Like leather, it grows with use

Its pale, gentle surface deepens little by little with daily use, turning a rich amber.

It arrives as an unfinished single board.

Before first use, simply apply a coat of a plant-based oil you have at home, such as olive oil; no special tools are needed. Care instructions are also included in the enclosed guide.

Each coat of oil protects the surface further and brings out more color and luster.

No two boards age to quite the same character. Engrave a name or an anniversary, and it becomes a one-of-a-kind board that deepens to amber over the years.

Sturdy enough to use every day without worry

The main reason it resists warping is that it is cut from straight-grained (masame) wood.

Add the durability of wild cherry, long used for fine furniture, and a long drying process of a year of natural drying and two months of kiln drying, and it becomes even more resistant to warping and cracking.

After years of use, if the surface starts to bother you, we also offer resurfacing.
